Grow and Explore Drop in
8th March 2022
One of the most successful parts of our Children and Family’s programme have been our monthly Drop-In sessions ‘Grow and Explore’. These sessions are when toddlers and pre-school children and their parent/carers are introduced to playing and learning outdoors. Even babies are invited to join in the fun.
Each month we plan activities, exploring the Children’s Garden and the other plots at Hill Close, looking for the seasonal changes in the gardens, spotting birds, hunting for bugs and being creative through the use of natural art and craft materials. We share stories and sing songs and grow various plants and vegetables throughout the year.
We have many parents who have been with us for a number of years, introducing new siblings as the older ones grow and start school. They know that we try to be outside for as much of the session as possible and so the children (and the grown-ups) need to come dressed appropriately. That way they can enjoy digging and planting, watering and making wonderful squishy dishes in our Mud Kitchen without getting their clothes wet and muddy. For some, jumping in muddy puddles is the best fun so wellies and waterproofs are always required!
We hold the sessions on the Second Thursday of each month 9.30 to 11am. Our dates for 2024 are: October 10th, November 14th, December 12th. Watch this space for our 2025 dates.
The cost is £4 per child with each additional sibling £2. Childminders £4 for the first child, £2 per additional child. For babies under 1 the fee is a £1. If you are joining us at one of the drop in sessions please book via our ticket tailor site here.
