The Glasshouse

During your visit, do visit our glasshouse. It is both a working space for propagation, and a sanctuary for plants too tender to survive outdoors.

You can see plants such as the lavender here being grown aeroponically, the roots in a nutrient-rich bath. Almost all the plants we sell have been brought on in here.

Plants like this Plumbago auriculata and this Scarborough Lily, Cyrtanthus elatus, flourish in a warm temperate environment similar to that of their native South Africa.

We have a fine collection of cacti, succulents and sempervivum, the latter featuring as one of our collections. Here is Lithopa olivacea and, getting an airing, a group of succulents.
