Pre-School Grow, Explore and Learn Outdoors

Our monthly Drop-In for pre-school children and their parents/carers. We focus on being outdoors, exploring the gardens, celebrating the changing seasons and the mini creatures and birds that live here. Please dress for the outdoors – wellies are always a good idea! £4 per child over 2yrs, siblings & under 2yrs £2 (adults/babies are free)

Summer Pruning Workshop

10.00am – 12.00pm An introduction to Summer Pruning including apples, pears and soft fruit.  Hill Close Gardens with its wide array of fruit trees provides a fantastic place to learn some essential skills and knowledge.  You will learn about pruning at this time of year, and how it can increase fruiting and also reduce disease. Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Bring your favourite bear and join us for our annual picnic. £5 per child 2.00pm – 4.00pm

Head Gardener’s Apple Walk – Members & Volunteers

Join our Head Gardener and enjoy a walk around our many apple trees. Exclusively for Hill Close Gardens Members & Volunteers 11am – 12pm Click here to register your place.

Head Gardeners Apple Walk – General Admission

A tour through the gardens with the Head Gardener, looking at the 70+ varieties grown at Hill Close. There will also be an opportunity to taste some of the varieties as we walk around. Tickets are £10 and include entry to the gardens and the walk with our Head Gardener. 2 – 3pm Click here

Apple & Country Fair Weekend 11th & 12th Oct

Our annual celebration of our apple harvest. A range of stall holders to explore and plenty of cake! Normal admission fees apply, reduced entry/2-4-1 vouchers etc. are not valid on event days. Normal opening hours – 11.00am – 4.00pm both days.

Chrysanthemum Day

In aid of the National Gardens Scheme and Plant Heritage. Admission takings will be donated to NGS. Normal opening times 11am – 4pm.

Hedgehog Day – Family Event

Hedgehog Day will be a super snuffling event! Can you find our spiky friends hiding in the gardens? 10.00am – 12.30pm £5 per child
